Forensic & Security Services Inc.
About Our Company
Forensic & Security Services Inc. was created for the purpose of taking the field of electronic discovery, computer forensics, digital investigations and legal consulting to a new level with a cost controlled results oriented solution. After years of hearing the same issues with existing techniques it was decided that there had to be a better way to provide certified forensic services to the legal and corporate communities.
Computer forensics, in its current form, has existed for nearly 20 years in government and defense organizations. General business discovered digital forensics during the remediation work involved with Y2k. Currently most of the individuals who are experts in the field of digital forensics have either been trained by law enforcement agencies, security agencies, or military organizations. Most forensic professionals were trained to view the goal of their work as finding the evidence at all costs, this philosophy makes sense in matters of national security or arresting major crime offenders. This philosophy is not appropriate when a cost-benefit analysis is now the major component in the decisions regarding not only the deployment of forensic work in support of litigation but whether to take a case or not.
After extensive surveys conducted by F&SS, we have found that the number one complaint voiced by attorneys, both in-house corporate and external, is the unpredictable cost of eDiscovery and ensuing computer forensics. For example, a case with a total exposure of $75,000 resulted in a digital forensic invoice of over $100,000. Horror stories like this have adversely affected the mindsets of many attorneys. Fear of run away bills, expenditures without results, the “CSI” effect, and the plethora of uncertified “pseudo experts” has caused many attorneys to either totally avoid digital discovery or to reluctantly use it only in high value cases.
Forensic & Security Services has developed proprietary processes, using verifiable forensic techniques to make electronic evidence discovery a predictable and cost controlled experience. With the advent of predictable costs eDiscovery can be applied to the intermediate and small value cases effectively leveling the playing field without breaking the bank. It is now financially possible to think of probative eDiscovery as a component in most discovery processes.
Our cost managed services provide the cornerstone of what will become a formal part of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure by the end of 2006.
We look forward to partnering with you to provide cost controlled eDiscovery.
